Read "Because of Winn Dixie" packet. Highlight/underline the Target Vocabulary words (listed on the 2nd page of your packet).

Finn HW: Prepare for the Bike Hike! Make sure to double check that your bike is ready to go. Get a good night sleep and eat a hearty breakfast. Bring layers and a water bottle and remember to wear sunscreen!

Ross: Fill out story map about a place of your choosing (your bedroom, your classroom, the basement, your backyard, camp, etc.) Fill out every bubble with as many descriptive words and adjectives as you can. You will be writing your paragraphs in class tomorrow (with Mrs. Ross).
Read MLK article and fill out author's purpose map. Remember to write your author's purpose in a complete sentence and be specific:

Study spelling.
Fill out the argument map creating an argument (and a solution) between two characters. For example, an argument between a spoon and a fork. Really consider what types of personalities each character has- is one more glum and moody? Is the other more positive and energetic?
ReplyDeleteThink about the actions/gestures and feelings of each character. If they are angry, what are they doing with their hands? What do their facial expressions look like? If they are feeling happy or satisfied, what is their body language saying?
We will work on writing up these "arguments" in class tomorrow.
Finn and Ross:
ReplyDeleteProofread and re-write the paragraph that was given to you in class (about Harry in the park). Make sure to use the attached proofreading marks to help you edit properly. Re-write the paragraph, with the edits, in neat handwriting.

Complete the Lesson 3 Weekly test for tonight's homework. Try your very best but do not ask for help from siblings, babysitters, parents, etc.... we will go over the answers in class tomorrow.

Read "Lost" about Kenya and her lost dog. After reading the play, fill out the theme map (just like we did for "Power of W.O.W"). Remember the theme that you choose should be a lesson that we can apply to our own lives. It is not the author's purpose OR a summary of what the story is about.

ADAM SIDWELL- he is coming to Graland next Wednesday. If you are interested in introducing him to the lower school at assembly next Wednesday, please write a paragraph explaining why. It is due tomorrow (Friday, Oct 3). You are welcome to look up information about him or check the link to his bio on our homepage.
Finn's Class- if you choose to write the paragraph (and put forth your best effort), then you do not need to do the other L.Arts homework for tonight
